FAIRMONT SINGAPORE

If you ever find yourself travelling to Singapore at a time when both the Marina Bay Sands and Raffles are fully booked, you’ll be in need of a serious alternative. And you need look no further than the Fairmont Singapore.

Now Singapore isn’t vast, but in even the smallest of cities (or city-states), location is still King. And it’s hard to see how The Fairmont could be better placed. Sitting as it does practically atop a Metro station, just a 15-minute walk to Marina Bay and the Singapore Flyer and just across the road from Raffles, so even though you’re not staying there, you don’t have far to go to ensure you can still enjoy a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar.
First Impressions set the tone for the rest of the stay, whilst the drop-off bay was busy with a stream of Mercedes taxis, the efficiency with which guests were off loaded was impressive and in no time you’ll find yourself in the lobby. Arriving at the same time as a large number of other guest means you’ll appreciate the large, air-conditioned lobby with numerous check-in desks open.
In minutes I’m walking through the door of my suite and am greeted by a tray of hand-made chocolates – I’m still not sure if this is a standard ‘welcome’ or if they somehow knew my visit was a birthday celebration – but they were delicious regardless!

On the subject of the suite, it wasn’t the largest you’ll find in the price-range but definitely more spacious than many. Both the lounge area and desk were fit for purpose rather than shoe-horned in as a tick-box exercise. The bathroom too was a decent size with power shower (much appreciated after a 12-hour+ journey), bath and complementary robes, slippers and toiletries.
